How to prepare for a Coolsculpting Procedure: Tips for a successful preparation

Here at KP Aesthetics, we offer fat freezing services in Delaware County and surrounding areas. Fat freezing is a science-backed procedure that uses CoolSculpting technology to deliver controlled cooling, effectively targeting fat cells that lie beneath the skin. Fat cells freeze at higher temperatures than the surrounding tissue, making the CoolSculpting procedure a non-invasive alternative to liposuction.

Below are some tips from our team of cosmetic professionals to help you prepare for your CoolSculpting Procedure

Dress Comfortably

Although disposable clothing will be provided for you during the CoolSculpting treatment, it’s recommended that you arrive in soft, comfortable clothes to wear after the procedure has finished. Any underwear left on during the treatment may be exposed to thick gel that is used to protect the skin, this gel may stain your undergarments.

Be Prepared for Pulling and Pinching

It’s not uncommon to experience some feelings of pulling and pinching during the CoolSculpting process. However, the overall procedure involves minimum discomfort. A member of our team will massage the treated areas immediately after treatment in order to break up any deep tissue that is frozen. This will help your body to start the absorption of destroyed fat cells.

Maintain Regular Diet and Avoid Anti-Inflammatory Medications

To reduce the risk of bruising after the procedure, avoid any anti-inflammatories such as Aspirin or Advil for a week prior to the appointment. Bruising is common and can be expected to last only a few days following the CoolSculpting procedure. Stick to your regular diet and routine to allow you to see the full effects of the procedure.

Be Prepared to Relax During and After Treatment

Many of our patients plan for some well-deserved relaxation time after treatment. Movement is limited during treatment, so you may want to bring an iPad or Tablet in order to relax and read a book or catch up on your favorite shows as we complete the CoolSculpting procedure.

Reasons to utilize Botox®️ Cosmetic

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons states that the most common cosmetic complaint in the country is fine and deep lines on the face. Approved by the FDA in early 2002, nothing has been found to smooth out facial lines faster than BOTOX®️ Cosmetic. Aesthetic patients will usually already be aware of this. Medical patients, on the other hand, might be skeptical if BOTOX®️ is a suggested treatment for their condition.

At KP Aesthetics, we thought it would be useful to provide our readers with a few of the more popular cosmetic and medical benefits of BOTOX®️ injections.

Stop Excessive Sweating

“Hyperhidrosis” is a medical condition in which someone sweats excessively to the point that it can cause physical discomfort, social anxiety, and other skin conditions. This condition most often affects patients in the underarms, hands, and feet, and it occurs regardless of the climate or temperature of a room, meaning it can be freezing cold and a patient is still left sweating through their clothing. Regular BOTOX®️ treatments can prevent localized sweat glands from activating, allowing someone affected by hyperhidrosis to stay dry in their underarms, hands, and feet.

Reduce Migraine Pain

Doctors believe BOTOX®️ works to prevent migraine headaches because it blocks neurotransmitters from carrying pain signals to the brain. BOTOX®️ effectively acts as a roadblock, keeping the pain signals from reaching their destination. Many patients will find that BOTOX®️ injections help them manage their suffering from chronic migraines. It’s something to discuss if you are afflicted by migraine headaches.

KP Aesthetics provides BOTOX®️ Cosmetic treatments to treat fine and deep lines, drooping brows, crow’s feet, and a variety of other skin ailments. To learn more about our treatment options and to set up an appointment, please call or text 484-420-4094.

What causes wrinkles?

Wrinkles, folds, and lines can form on the skin in areas all over the body. There are a lot of factors that cause wrinkles to form on the skin, ranging from environmental factors to wear and tear over the years.*

Aging skin is a big cause of wrinkles. As we age, our skin loses valuable and essential components like collagen and elastin that help to keep our skin strong and tight. Gravity can exacerbate this issue by placing additional stress on the skin. Repeated facial muscle use, like frowning, can also cause wrinkles to form around the mouth.

At KP Aesthetics, we offer surgical and non-surgical approaches to fine line and wrinkle reduction. Procedures like a facelift can provide powerful facial rejuvenation, and Botox can give you the subtle aesthetic enhancement your look needs to really shine.* Contact us to schedule a consultation.

Surgical options are excellent for addressing significant facial flaws like deep folds and excessive facial sagging. Laser-based treatments are excellent for rejuvenating the beauty of your facial skin. Our facials are also perfect for keeping your skin nourished and hydrated.

Skin Rejuvenation Without Surgery: The Benefits of Dermal Fillers

We all grow older. It’s one of those parts of life that’s unavoidable. While we don’t have the ability to slow down time, we do have the ability to work against the effects of it on our bodies. Let’s face it — we all want faces that are fuller and healthier looking.

So what can you do to work against your skin’s aging? Get dermal filler services in Delaware County.

Look Younger

Dermal fillers are injections that can fill out faces and hands to counteract the effects of the skin’s natural aging process. By doing this, the common result is a younger, healthier looking face and skin. These fillers can be used to:

  • Reduce facial lines
  • Restore the face’s volume
  • Plump thin lips
  • Enhance cheeks
  • Soften smile lines
  • Fill out aging hands

While these are the most common outcomes, people should keep in mind that their results may vary.

Little-to-No Downtime

Some people experience minimal redness or swelling around the injection site.

Your Choice of Product

At KP Aesthetics, we don’t limit you in your choice of dermal filler product. We offer the complete line of Juvederm products. These dermal filler products offer high-quality filling that you can trust. With brands like these, you can rest assured knowing that you will get the stunning anti-aging results that last.

Collagen Induction Therapy Through Microneedling

Microneedling is an excellent treatment for promoting healthy skin and reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and scars.* Microneedling is able to provide these benefits through a process known as collagen induction therapy.

Microneedling is accomplished by using a special pen tool, equipped with fine needles, to create very minor damage in the dermis and epidermis. This triggers the collagen induction process. During this process, the production of collagen is stimulated. Collagen is an essential component for healthy and tight skin. Once the process is complete, your skin should feel smooth and fresh.*

Dr. Steve Costalas specializes in aesthetic medicine and has been trained to provide collagen induction therapy. If microneedling sounds like the answer to achieving your aesthetic goals, contact us to schedule an appointment.

Improve the texture of your skin with microneedling

Are you bothered by the rough texture of your skin? For some people, store-bought scrubs and products just don’t cut it. If your skin is in need of professional care, it may be time to check out microneedling.

Microneedling is a unique procedure that helps to improve skin texture and rejuvenate the beauty of your skin by stimulating the skin’s natural healing process and the production of collagen.

During the treatment, a pen that contains a cluster of oscillating needles is passed over the skin. These needles create small punctures that trigger the skin’s healing response. Fresh, smooth, and beautiful skin will soon start to replace the old rough and damaged skin.

If you are interested in improving the texture of your skin using microneedling, contact KP Aesthetics today to schedule an appointment.

What to Expect at Your First Lip Filler Appointment | KP Aesthetics

Thinking about lip filler but not sure what you’re actually signing up for? You’re not alone. For most people, the decision to get lip filler isn’t instant — it’s weeks (sometimes months) of reading, comparing photos, and wondering what the appointment will actually feel like.

This guide is for you. Not a sales pitch. A real, step-by-step walkthrough of what happens when you book your first lip filler appointment at KP Aesthetics in Newtown Square, PA — from the consultation call to the moment your final results settle in.

Step 1: The Consultation — This Is Where Everything Starts

Your first appointment at KP Aesthetics begins with a one-on-one consultation with your injector. This is not a quick formality. It’s a genuine conversation about your face, your goals, and what’s actually achievable.

Your injector will examine your natural lip shape, the ratio of your upper to lower lip, your facial symmetry, and the structure around your mouth. These details matter because great lip filler isn’t about adding as much volume as possible — it’s about enhancing what you already have in a way that looks balanced and natural.

Come prepared to answer questions like:

  • What bothers you most about your current lips? (Thinness, lack of definition, asymmetry, vertical lip lines?)
  • Are you looking for a subtle refresh or a noticeable enhancement?
  • Have you had any fillers before, anywhere on your face?
  • Are you taking any blood thinners, supplements, or medications?

Don’t worry if you can’t articulate exactly what you want. Bringing reference photos — even just a few you’ve saved — helps enormously. Your injector can tell you immediately whether a look is realistic for your anatomy, and what it would actually take to get there.

What gets decided in the consultation: which Juvéderm product is right for you (more on this below), how much filler is appropriate for a first treatment, and what the injection map will look like.

Step 2: Choosing the Right Filler — It’s Not One-Size-Fits-All

At KP Aesthetics, we offer the full Juvéderm collection, and the product your injector selects makes a significant difference in your result. Here’s how to think about the options:

If you want subtle hydration and smoothing

Juvéderm Volbella XC is your filler. It has a thinner consistency that softly plumps the lips, smooths vertical lip lines (the fine lines above the lip border), and adds hydration without dramatic volume change. It’s the most natural-looking option and lasts up to a year. This is a popular choice for first-timers who want to “dip a toe in.”

If you want moderate volume with smooth results

Juvéderm Vollure sits between Volbella and Ultra XC in terms of thickness. It’s excellent for softening marionette lines and adding moderate fullness, and it typically lasts around a year.

If you want clear shape definition and visible fullness

Juvéderm Ultra XC is the most versatile and widely used lip filler in our practice. Its thicker gel consistency adds noticeable volume, dramatically defines the lip border, and softens the lines around the mouth. Most patients wanting a meaningful enhancement choose Ultra XC.

If you want the most dramatic, voluminous result

Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC is the thickest formulation and delivers the fullest result. It’s typically recommended for patients who have had filler before and want to go bolder, or for those with significant volume loss who need more correction.

For most first-time patients, we recommend starting conservatively — usually up to 1 ml (one syringe) of Ultra XC or Volbella. You can always add more at a follow-up. You can’t un-add it on the same day.

Step 3: Preparing for Your Appointment

A little preparation in the days before your treatment goes a long way toward reducing bruising and swelling.

One week before:

  • Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements if your doctor permits — this includes aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, and alcohol. These thin the blood and increase the chance of bruising.
  • Stay well hydrated. Hyaluronic acid (the active ingredient in Juvéderm fillers) binds to water, and hydrated tissue responds better.

24–48 hours before:

  • Skip alcohol entirely.
  • Avoid any facial treatments — waxing, chemical peels, or laser sessions around the mouth.

Day of:

  • Come with clean skin, no lip liner or lipstick.
  • Eat a full meal before your appointment — some patients feel lightheaded on an empty stomach.
  • If you tend toward anxiety, let your injector know. They can take extra time during numbing and walk you through each step as it happens.

Step 4: The Appointment Itself — What Happens in the Room

Most lip filler appointments at KP Aesthetics take 30 to 45 minutes from start to finish. Here’s the sequence:

Numbing (10–15 minutes) Your injector will cleanse your lips with an antiseptic and apply a topical numbing cream. This sits on your lips for about 10–15 minutes until the area is sufficiently numb. You’ll feel your lips get heavy and slightly tingly — that’s normal.

All Juvéderm formulas also contain lidocaine, which further numbs the area as the filler is injected. By the time the needle touches your lips, most patients feel pressure rather than pain.

Injections (10–20 minutes) Your injector uses a thin needle to place filler into specific areas based on the plan mapped out during your consultation. Common injection points include the body of the upper and lower lip, the vermilion border (the lip line), the Cupid’s bow, and the corners of the mouth.

You’ll feel pressure and some movement. It’s not painless, but the vast majority of patients describe it as very manageable — a 3 or 4 out of 10 at most.

After each injection, your injector will gently massage the area to distribute the filler evenly and check for any asymmetry. You may be asked to hold a mirror so you can give feedback in real time.

Immediate result check As soon as the injections are complete, you’ll see a difference. Your lips will look fuller — probably more swollen than the final result will be, but the shape and definition are already visible. Your injector will review the result with you, make any small adjustments, and apply a cold pack to help reduce swelling.

Step 5: The Swelling Timeline — Day by Day

This is the part nobody fully prepares for, so here it is honestly:

Day 1 (immediately after): Your lips will be noticeably swollen — more than you expected, more than the final result. They may look uneven because swelling is rarely perfectly symmetrical. This is completely normal. Do not judge your results on day one.

Day 2–3: Peak swelling. This is typically the most exaggerated your lips will look. Some patients also develop mild bruising, especially around the lip border. Tenderness is common and normal. Applying a cold pack gently (never directly on the skin) helps.

Day 4–7: Swelling begins to subside noticeably. Your lips start to look more like the result you actually wanted. Most patients feel comfortable going back to their normal routine during this window.

Day 10–14: Your final result. By two weeks post-treatment, swelling is fully resolved and the filler has settled into the tissue. This is the result that will last you 6–12 months.

What to do in the meantime:

  • Sleep with your head slightly elevated the first couple of nights.
  • Avoid intense exercise for 48 hours (elevated heart rate increases swelling).
  • No saunas, steam rooms, or extreme heat for the first week.
  • Avoid pressing, squeezing, or massaging your lips on your own.
  • Stay out of direct sun and apply SPF when outdoors.
  • Skip straws, smoking, and any activity that creates strong lip pressure for the first 48 hours.
  • Wait at least 24 hours before applying lip products or makeup.

Step 6: Results and Longevity — What to Realistically Expect

Hyaluronic acid lip fillers are temporary. That’s actually one of their biggest advantages — results are reversible, and your body gradually metabolizes the filler over time.

For most patients at KP Aesthetics, results from Juvéderm last between 6 and 12 months. Your individual timeline depends on:

  • Metabolism: Faster metabolisms break down filler more quickly.
  • Activity level: High-intensity exercise speeds metabolism and can shorten results.
  • Which filler was used: Volbella tends to last closer to 12 months; Ultra XC typically 6–9 months for first-time patients.
  • How much was used: Smaller amounts may not last as long as a full syringe.

When results begin to fade, you’ll notice your lips gradually returning to their natural state — not a sudden deflation. Most patients schedule a maintenance appointment every 6–9 months to maintain their look.

What if you don’t love the result? Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an injection of hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks down the filler quickly and safely. This is a straightforward in-office procedure. It’s rarely needed, but knowing it exists tends to make first-timers feel a lot more at ease about trying filler for the first time.

Is Lip Filler Right for You? Common Questions First-Timers Ask

“Will I look overdone?” Not if your injector is doing their job. The goal at KP Aesthetics is always natural proportion — enhancing your lips within the context of your full facial structure. The “pillow lips” look is a result of too much product placed incorrectly. Our injectors use a conservative, gradual approach, especially for first-time patients.

“What if I hate it?” You can have it dissolved. Full stop. The reversibility of hyaluronic acid filler is one of the most underrated things about it.

“Will my lips feel different?” In the first week, yes — they’ll feel firm and slightly foreign. Once swelling subsides and the filler softens, most patients say their lips feel completely natural, both to them and to anyone else.

“Can I get filler if I have small lips naturally?” Yes, and in fact natural volume loss or thin lips are exactly what filler is designed to address. Your injector will recommend a gradual approach to reach your goal over one or two sessions rather than trying to make a dramatic change in a single appointment.

“How much does lip filler cost in Philadelphia?” At KP Aesthetics, one syringe of Juvéderm lip filler typically ranges from $500 to $1,000 depending on the product selected. We offer complimentary consultations so you can get a personalized estimate before committing to anything.
